The majority of counties on the South Plains are banning individuals from using fireworks this Fourth of July, leaving many fans of the rocket's red glare with few choices this Independence day.
On Monday, 11 counties followed Lubbock's lead and canceled their professional firework displays for the Fourth. Only four counties have decided to continue the shows, with the closest one 45 minutes from the Hub City.
As of Tuesday, Plainview is planning to continue with their big fireworks show, but their City Council will make a final decision Wednesday morning.
Snyder in Scurry County will also have their usual show, and if you're willing to drive a few hours – Clovis and Hobbs in New Mexico will continue with their big fireworks celebrations.
