Billy Gillispie held his first basketball camp on the Texas Tech campus Wednesday. The camps run through July 22nd and is open to all entrants aged 10-18 for the day camps, while the overnight camps run from July 22-29.
"These guys have given us part of their summer to help them try to learn basketball, and we're really looking forward to having a great situation for these players and for the community as well," said Gillispie.
Not only do campers get the chance to interact with Gillispie, they also get to meet and receive instruction from some of the Texas Tech basketball players.
"Those guys are all Michael Jordan to the little ones, so it's great. The ones who aren't in class are always out here trying to help. It's a fantastic way they get a chance to be a coach and learn how to teach someone something instead of always listening, and I think they really enjoy the interaction with the players."
