Texas Tech announced Thursday Bubba Jennings, an assistant coach under both Bob & Pat Knight, is being retained Billy Gillispie. Jennings' new position was not specified Thursday.

"You have different [job] titles...titles don't mean anything to me, except when you win a title that says 'champion' on it," said Gillispie.

Originally from Clovis, NM., Jennings spent 10 previous years on the Red Raider coaching staff, starting as a video operations manager under Bob Knight until being promoted in 2008 to assistant coach under Pat Knight.

Although Jennings had other coaching opportunities, including a candidate for the Midland College job, the Texas Tech alum says he only wanted to be one place: Lubbock.

"It's a big relief to me and my family," said Jennings. "This is what we wanted to do from the very beginning; some other opportunities popped up out there, but there's not anything that can equal being here at Texas Tech."

Jennings is the third announced hire to Gillispie's staff, however the first-year head coach says he has no timeline for filling out the rest of his staff positions.
