Consider this...Dan's apology for NBC's decisions

Posted:
LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

This year's US Open golf championship was dominated by Rory McIlroy. He set a lot of records with his brilliant performance and judgment. I wish the same could be said for NBC. NBC opened the US Open coverage with a patriotic salute featuring children reciting the pledge of allegiance. Good idea until some moron, or as I suspect, a few morons, decided to edit out the reference to "under God."

Consider this:

I spent most of the day yesterday on the phone with management at NBC in New York. I told them their actions were a slap in the face to my viewers not to mention America in general.

I can see how a small group of rogue producers and editors might be able to pull off a stunt like this. Having said that, NBC showed their true colors with the half hearted apology that only inflamed the situation. They basically said they were sorry if what they chose to do offended anyone.

On behalf of KCBD, let me offer the kind of apology I had hoped for from NBC. What went out over our airwaves was unacceptable. Whoever made the decision should be fired.

This kind of censorship by private companies only gives the government ammunition to further chip away at the very foundation of this country.

One of our founding fathers, Patrick Henry, said, "This nation was founded on the gospel of Jesus Christ. For that reason alone, people of other faiths have been afforded freedom of worship here."

To me that says it all. I hope those who made such a bad choice will think twice before they grossly disrespect the very house they live in.
