The Lubbock Cooper Independent School District is celebrating a victory over the State Comptroller's Office. The school district filed suit against the State Comptroller's Office in July after it set property appraisals for homes $18 million more than the Lubbock County Appraisal District set those rates. Meanwhile, as property values increase, state funding decreases.
So, Lubbock Cooper's funding was cut almost $800,000. On Thursday, board trustees announced the Comptroller's Office was attempting to settle the suit in their favor.
