Former Slaton policeman pleads not guilty on child porn charges

A trial date has been set for a former Slaton police officer accused of having child pornography.

Back in May, federal authorities searched the home of Richard "Rick" Lewis and, according to court records, found the child pornography on his personal computer.  Lewis is accused of six counts of possessing, transporting, and receiving sexual images of children.  After the search of his home, Lewis resigned from the police department.

On Wednesday afternoon, Lewis pleaded not guilty to the charges.  His trial date was then set at August 15th.
