Lubbock man hit by van Saturday night dies

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A Lubbock man hit by a car Saturday night has died.  Police say Eusebio Martinez, 69, was crossing Avenue Q near 28th Street just before 10 O'clock.  Martinez was struck by a van and thrown more than 50 feet.

Accident investigators say Martinez crossed in the middle of block rather than at a crosswalk.  He died at University Medical Center.  Police are investigating the accident, but say they do not believe alcohol or speed played a role in the collision.
