SLATON, TX (KCBD) -

A Lubbock man who was added Monday to the Texas Most Wanted Sex Offender list was arrested Tuesday morning in Slaton by DPS Criminal Investigations agents and Texas Highway Patrol troopers.

The arrest was as a result of tip called into authorities, and the anonymous tipster will receive a $1,000 cash reward from the Governor's Criminal Justice Division for providing the information.

Robert Garcia, 45, was wanted for failure to register as a sex offender, and authorities were concerned that he was a high-risk sex offender who was likely to reoffend.

The 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders are available on the DPS website and have last known addresses in the following cities:

  • Irving
  • Houston (2)
  • Dallas
  • El Paso
  • Austin (2)
  • Lufkin
  • Whitney

The program identifies violent sex offenders who have either violated parole or failed to comply with sex offender registration. Another offender will be added to the list soon.
