According to Muleshoe police chief Brian Frieda, U.S. 84 between Muleshoe and Sudan has been reopened to traffic after being closed Tuesday due to flames and smoke from a wildfire.
The fire was so dense that it showed up on Super Doppler HD-3 around 6:45 p.m. The weather service reported that the fire re-ignited Tuesday after lightning sparked a blaze Monday night. The Texas Forest Service has been called in to assist.
The fire is currently 100% contained.
