"Home of the Free, Because of the Brave," was the 4th on Broadway parades theme. Thousands watched the military floats go by cheered and clapped as they honored them for their service.
Parade host Sean Donahue kept the crowd laughing with excitement as cars, floats, and even boats came down Broadway. Military guests of honor stood for the entire parade saluting all military in the parade.
Lt. Gen. William Edgar Murphy, said he was honored to be apart of the event. "It's great to see our men and women who serve this country and put their lives on the line everyday. The 4th of July is to honor those who have served and continue to," Murphy said. Mayor Tom Martin even stopped at the podium to say , "Lubbock is the nation's most patriotic city, and everyone is thrilled to be here."
The crowd of red, white and blue sat in chairs and bleachers shouting in excitement, "Happy 4th of July."
