Dozens of area residents participated in an ancient Mexican celebration held in Lubbock Sunday.
Dia de los Muertos, or day of the dead, is a day of remembrance, devoted to honoring family and friends who have passed away. Sunday's celebrations concluded at the Buddy Holly Center with a performance by Aztec dancers from Taos, New Mexico.
The opening procession was held at the International Cultural Center. Other festivities were held at the Landmark Art Gallery and Lubbock Regional Arts Center.
