Interim City Manager Issues End-of-Year Report

Following the close of the City of Lubbock's fiscal year on September 30, Interim City Manager Tommy Gonzalez issued an end-of-year report. The 122-page document chronicles management's activities between March, when Mr. Gonzalez was named to the interim position, and October.

This report is available online at ( www.mylubbock.us). Go to the "Monthly Management Reports" link on the left side of the City's home page and look for the FY 2003 report. Bound copies of the document also are available at all four locations of the Lubbock Public Library and in the Public Information Office at City Hall, 1625 13th Street, Room 102.

The report includes an executive summary from Mr. Gonzalez, an overview of the issues during that time frame, checks and balances that have been put in place, a summary of management's activities and a financial review of the City's cash balances. The appendix portion of the report includes budget information for Revised FY 02-03 Budget activities in April and Proposed FY 03-04 Budget in September.

"This is a good document for anyone who is interested in an overview of City operations," said Mr. Gonzalez. "The City Council is a proponent of open government, and this management report helps council meet their goal of open government by providing a true picture of what is happening at City Hall."

Among the issues discussed in the end-of-year report are: Revised Budget for 2002-03; Budget for 2003-04; Capital Projects; Contract Management Program; Lubbock Power & Light financial situation; Lake Meredith water; and citizen committees including the Audit Committee, the Policy Review Committee and the Ordinance Review Committee.

The report was presented to the City Council last month and is now available to the public. If you wish to have a PDF copy of the report e-mailed to you, contact Sandy Glass at (806) 775-3268 .

We are starting off the weekend cool, but warmer temperatures are on the way along with a break from high winds today. Sunday we will a combination of warm temperatures and southwesterly winds sustained at 20-30 mph in the afternoon hours. With high temperatures, low relative humidity values and high winds, we will see the return of an elevated risk for wildfires.
