A vote on Monday gave the ok to take more water from Lake Meredith

Lubbock and other West Texas cities will take more water from Lake Meredith even though there's really not much water left to take.

An article from the online version of the Amarillo's Globe, says CRMWA or the Canadian River Municipal Water Authority voted on the issue Monday.

Under the new plan lake levels will drop nine inches more than previously planned, which will cause the lake to have even lower levels of water on water levels that are already at a record low.

Most of Lubbock's water now comes from water wells north of Amarillo, which are still having a hard time keeping up with water demands.
