Passing Of Sales Tax Is Upsetting To Lubbock Democratic Party

There is one group that is calling the outcome of the November 4th Sales Tax Election a disappointment.

The Lubbock Democratic Party campaigned against the proposed sales tax increase, and last month they made their view public with protests. The Democrats say an increase in sales tax is just a temporary fix for a long term problem.

Following the results of the election, NewsChannel 11 contacted Irma Guerrero who is the Chair of the Lubbock Democratic Party. Guerrero declined to go on camera but said that it was her hope that the citizens of Lubbock would have voted against special interest.

Guerrero says if the Lubbock Democratic Party would have had the same unlimited funds as Progress Lubbock, they would have been able to reach more voters. Guerrero says the Lubbock Democratic Party will also be meeting with their attorneys Wednesday to question the legality of the ballot.
