Irons Junior High Students Evacuated

Hundreds of Irons Junior High Students were forced into the cold Wednesday morning after firefighters evacuated the school.

Staff members there summoned the fire department upon smelling a strong odor. With the help of a thermal imager, fire firefighters detected a hot spot in a heating unit on the roof of one of the buildings.

Investigators believe a transformer in the unit may have failed.
