Lockney resident creates war memorial

Posted: Updated:

Lockney, TX (KCBD) - Edward Marks, a veteran from Lockney, helped to establish a war memorial in the community.  Marks said he wanted to create something to remember soldiers from Floyd County who have fallen in the line of duty.

Eighty white crosses mark the memorial site with seventy-eight of them honoring local soldiers who have been killed in action since World War I.

There is also a Naval torpedo at the site on which Lockney artist Andy Stapp airbrushed a portrait on the torpedo that honors all the branches of service.

The memorial is right off main street and next to the Lockney City Hall
