Five Car Pileup on North I-27

Lubbock Police say speed and failure to yield right of way contributed to a five vehicle collision in north Lubbock this morning.

The accident happened just before 11:30am, at the intersection of 4th street and I-27. Police say a Jeep was travelling south bound on the access road when the driver ran a red light, and collided with a Tahoe headed west on 4th Street. The speed at the time of the collision carried the two vehicles into three other vehicles stopped across the intersection.

The drivers of the Jeep, Tahoe, and a Mazda were each taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. The drivers of the Monte Carlo and flatbed truck were not hurt.
