Overnight fire spreads to two homes

Lubbock Fire Marshal's office is investigating a fire that spread to two houses in the Tech Terrace neighborhood. The fire sparked up around 1:30 a.m. Sunday at 23rd and Boston.

Three Tech students had just moved in but weren't home at the time. Investigators say right before the fire the home was broken into and several things stolen.

Investigators aren't sure if the fire was set to cover up the burglary, but they're also looking into accidental causes. Investigators say they're not sure if the home is a complete loss, but there is extensive fire and smoke damage throughout the house and roof.

The fire also spread along the fence and caused minor smoke damage to a neighbor's home.
