Flu Epidemic Arrives In Lubbock

Judging by the long lines at the Covenant Pediatric Emergency Room, the flu has arrived in Lubbock. Physicians say you can treat symptoms comfortably at home with the proper rest and fluids. But if you must see a doctor, please save the emergency room for emergencies.

"You may just want to call your primary care physician if you suspect they have the flu. The flu right now is an epidemic in Lubbock," says Michael O'Neill, Director of the Covenant Emergency Room.

According to Covenant Medical Center, 30% to 40% of the patients seen at the pediatric emergency room did, in fact, have the flu virus.
