The Big 12 Conference announced today the 2011-12 men's basketball schedule and Texas Tech begins the 18-game schedule in Stillwater, Okla., at Oklahoma State on Jan. 4.
The new 18-game schedule features a round-robin format consisting of both home and away contests against the other nine league schools.
After the matchup with the Cowboys, the Red Raiders host – Baylor (Jan. 7) and defending conference champion Kansas (Jan. 11) at United Spirit Arena. The Baylor game is the first of nine games to be broadcast on the Big 12 Network for the Red Raiders, while the matchup with the Jayhawks is the first of six for the Red Raiders on the ESPN family of networks this season.
Last season, the Red Raiders appeared on ESPN platforms five times and the Big 12 Network six times.
The Red Raiders close out the season with its final six games on either the Big 12 Network or an ESPN affiliate, including the season finale against Missouri at the United Spirit Arena on March 3.
Currently, 15 of the 18 league games are slated for broadcast on either an ESPN platform or the Big 12 Network. These games can also be seen on ESPN Full Court or ESPN3.com.
The season will conclude at the 2012 Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's Basketball Championship, held at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo. Two first round matchups will be played on Wednesday, March 7, followed by the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 8. Semifinals are scheduled for Friday, March 9, with the championship on Saturday, March 10.
