Free fishing event at Buddy Holly Lake Saturday

Lubbock's Los Hermanos will host a free fishing event Saturday at Buddy Holly Lake located on North University and Cesar E. Chavez Drive.

Organizers say the 3rd annual Vamos A Pescar, or Let's Go Fishing, is intended to provide an opportunity for parents to bond with their children.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing gear, but Los Hermanos will provide fishing rods to the first 50 registered participants. Registration opens at 6 a.m. and the lake will be stocked with catfish by organizers.

No fishing license will be needed, and registered participants will also receive a free lunch and bait.

There is a limit of four fish per person and children must be accompanied by an adult.
