Replica medal given to Floydada athlete after fire

FLOYDADA, TX (KCBD) -

Back on June 19th, Tim Lipham lost his family home in Floydada to a fire and lost all of his personal property, including his State Championship gold medal

Tim was on the amazing 1983 Daingerfield state title football team that was just selected by Dave Campbell's magazine as the best all-time Texas high school football team.

Daingerfield dominated, outscoring opponents 631 to 8. They shut out 14 opponents, including Post, allowing a mere foot per play.

Family friend Nick Long contacted the UIL and got a replica medal to give to Tim so he could remember his incredible football accomplishment.

Tim was surprised to receive the medal. Nick told NewsChannel 11 Sports that he knew the medal meant a lot to Tim and he felt it was the right thing to do for his friend.

Week 3 of Texas Tech's football fall camp is underway and there are still questions on both sides of the football. The air raid attack is to be expected, but Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury likes what he's seen from the Red Raiders backfield so far.
