Inexperience May Have Contributed To Fatal Wreck

Police say weather may have played a factor in a fatal traffic accident Thursday night.

Captain Richard Foster says the roads were wet when a Lexus lost control and struck a pole near 4th and Upland. Fourty-nine year-old Darla King, a passenger in the vehicle, died in the crash. Her son, 15-year-old Trey King, was the driver and suffered minor injuries. Foster says Trey was operating the vehicle under a learner's permit.

Thursday night's tragedy marks Lubbock's 28th traffic fatality this year.
