Fundraiser Held for Monterey Student in Car Accident

A fundraiser at the South Plains Fairgrounds brought out hundreds of people on Sunday.

Professional Senior Bull Riders competed in memory of Janell Aboushadid and to benefit Shanna Davis.

Davis is still in a coma, following an accident on September 27th that killed her friend Janell. The two girls, along with 16 year-old Courtney Ward, were coming home from a football game in Odessa when the car they were in flipped just north of Seminole.

On Sunday, friends, family, and hundreds of others gathered to remember Janell and to raise money for Shanna.

"Outstanding. We had some awesome professional senior bull riders, a real successful art auction. Not sure how much we raised yet, but there were about 400 people here and the proceeds go to the Shanna medical fund. It went great," says Galen Neitsch, Janell's step-father.
