Farm tour aims to showcase the benefits of eating local

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Tuesday afternoon folks embarked on a taste-test tour across the South Plains.

The 2nd annual Texas High Plains Farm Tour aims to educate consumers on the benefits of eating local.

Busses took people to area farms and wineries to sample products. Chefs will be cooking food grown here on the South Plains for people to sample hoping that nearby restaurants will use local ingredients.

KCBD NewsChannel 11 will be on the tour to ask questions about the affordability of eating local and see how the drought has affected this year's products.
