Students, parents attend "Back 2 School Kickoff"

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Students and their parents turned out Saturday morning at Mae Simmons Community Center, for the 2nd annual "Back 2 School" kick off.

The event featured carnival games, live music, door prizes and food.  It was free to those who attended.

Local businesses and organizations donated more than 1,500 backpacks and school supplies that were given away to students who will need them when school starts up Monday.
