The look of the classroom is really changing with lap tops and smart boards. As school gets underway and new technology is introduced, parents should know that high tech learning can take its toll on young children.
Optometrist Dr. Burton Worrell said, "The biggest problem is that they are very compelling to children, so with children what happens is they tend to want to stare and really look at it and it fatigues their system faster. So what we need is more breaks we need to also have them vetted before. We need to make sure children get checkups to make sure they are tracking and their eye tracking is good."
Dr. Burton says he hopes teachers, who use smart boards will encourage kids to stop for a minute, and just rest their eyes every so often.
