New research concerning alcohol and gastric bypass patients

Posted: Updated:

You've probably heard that gastric bypass patients need less food to feel full after surgery.  A new report says those patients need to be warned that it could take a lot less alcohol to make them feel intoxicated as well. Researchers at Rockefeller University say they've found gastric bypass patients can fail a breathalyzer test hours after drinking just one glass of wine.   Also, many of those patients are more sensitive to the effects of alcohol, and it could take longer for it to leave their system.
