The Post Office is in a bit of trouble and slowing down your mail could save them big bucks. The Post Office is losing money, and needs to find ways to save.
Right now first class and priority mail is delivered in two to three days, but a study shows adding a day to that schedule will cut about a billion and a half dollars a year in postal expenses. The change would allow the service to not pay weekend overtime, and use cheaper ground transportation instead of air.
Post office executives are expected to announce some of their plans for delivery changes on Tuesday. .
