Former Lubbock resident becomes DPS Deputy Director

AUSTIN, TX (KCBD) -

The new Deputy Director of DPS Law Enforcement Operations is a former Lubbock resident.  David Baker's promotion is still subject to consent by the Public Safety Commission.  Baker is a native of Perryton.  He started as a DPS trooper in Lubbock in 1978. He also served as a Sergeant in both Lubbock and Midland. 

Baker said in a written statement, "I am honored by the trust placed in me by Director McCraw and the Public Safety Commission, and I look forward to working with the entire DPS leadership team to continue the outstanding work the Department does on a daily basis."
