Collision Kills Elderly Man In SE Lubbock County

An elderly man dies following an accident in SouthEast Lubbock County.

It happened around 7 p.m. Tuesday night, just 2.5 miles West of US 84 on FM 1585. DPS has not released very many details, but have said they believe alcohol is a factor in the collision.

EMS took the 14-year-old driver of the Ford Mercury to the hospital while an elderly passenger was taken by AeroCare. The elderly passenger later died. The driver of the Astro Van was not injured.

The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office, DPS, Slaton Fire Department and Buffalo Springs Lake Fire Department all responded to the accident which remains under investigation.
