A study of nearly 68,000 Americans over age twelve finds out that one in 10 Americans abuse drugs. The nation's drug Czar says the most abused drug was marijuana with 17 million Americans saying they've used it within a month. The government suggests making marijuana legal in some areas, which may be sending the wrong signal to others.
Director of the National Drug Control Policy Gil Kerlikowske said, "Common sense tells us that mixed messages driven by drug legalization efforts placed a real obstacle in the way of parents, who work hard every single day, to prevent drug use in their children."
The number of people abusing methamphetamine has been cut in half since 2006. That's when Sudafed was moved behind the counter so nobody could buy it without speaking to a pharmacist.
