Be Safe on the Texas Highways

Millions may be taking to the skies this holiday weekend, but even more will be hitting the highways. Police are urging drivers to be safe: buckle up, stay sober, and obey the speed limit. But there is one more important thing to keep in mind, especially if you still plan to hit the road at night.

"Remember the two second rule, always give yourself an out and leave yourself enough room to stop, anticipate, look down the road, instead of at the vehicle in front of you," says Sgt. Wayne McClanahan, of the Lubbock Police Department.

And if you happen to have any troubles out on the road, there is a toll-free number to call for roadside assistance 1-800-525-5555 . You can also find that number on the back of your Texas drivers license.
