Thirteen cadets were honored today as the Lubbock Police Academy conducted graduation ceremonies at the Texas Tech Frazier Alumni Pavilion.
Officials at the academy released the names of graduates, including: Justin Anderson, Abel Betancourt, Albert Buja, Joshua Conklin, Brandon Evans, Jared Flood, Jason Holman, Jonathan Larson, Jose Mendoza, Craig Richardson, David Schreiber, Trevor Ward and Chase Woody.
The LPD Recruiting and Training site describes the training as "mentally and physically demanding."
Classroom training includes courses in criminal justice, criminal investigation, basic law, police procedures and traffic control. Recruits are trained in defensive tactics and the use of firearms.
After successful completion of the police academy and the state licensing exam, recruits get shift assignments and continue their training in the field.
