Lubbock Republicans gather for CNN/Tea Party debate
Local Republican Party members gathered at Buffalo Wild Wings Monday night to watch their candidates square off in a debate sponspored by CNN and representatives from the Tea Party movement.
Members gathered around 6:30 p.m. at the restaurant on 82nd and University.
Viewers watched closely as the candidates debated, sharing serious moments and enjoying a few laughs as well.
Lubbock Republicans want to make sure their party selects the right candidate.
"There's normally an early front runner, but this year we are being careful because Barack Obama is surprisingly vulnerable at this point in his presidency. We need to get the strongest Republican nominee to win the white house," debate watcher Carl Tepper said.
