On Monday, a jury resumes deliberations in the federal trial of Texas Tech researcher Dr. Thomas Butler.
Authorities say that Dr. Butler lied to federal agents, smuggled plague samples into the United States from Tanzania and committed theft, embezzlement, and fraud. He's also accused of defrauding Texas Tech out of hundreds of thousands of dollars and cheating on his taxes.
Dr. Butler faces 69 federal charges. If convicted, he could be sentenced to life in prison.
