New improvements in brain cancer vaccines

Posted: Updated:

Earlier this year, we introduced you to Batman, a hero among dogs for testing an experimental brain cancer vaccine made from her own cancer cells.  However, the study has moved from dogs to humans, and John Huls is now benefiting from the human trials.

"This has been a Godsend.  I've never felt better.  I have good stamina, good vitality, my cognitive functions are as good as they ever were." Huls said.

Dr. John Ohlfest from Masonic Cancer Center said, "We did three dose levels. This is the maximum dose, and we're still not seeing any toxicity.  We believe we've achieved the objectives of the trial."

Researchers say it's too early to tell if this treatment is safe and effective.  They say they are happy with the progress they are seeing in the dog and human trials.
