Certain over-the-counter asthma inhalers will be phased out this year. The FDA is reminding parents to take action now, and get the prescription your child will need when those over the counter remedies are no longer available.
The problem is that some inhalers contain CFCS, which are sold under the name, Primatene Mist. They are classified as a substance that could harm the ozone, so all those inhalers are getting replaced with environmentally friendly inhalers. That means when they're gone, they're gone.
Hopefully, by the end of the year, consumers will need a prescription for inhalers because there will be no over the counter option.
