Red Raiders escape Nevada with 35-34 win

LUBBOCK (KCBD) - Seth Doege scrambled and found a wide open Eric Ward on a 3 yard touchdown pass with 36 seconds left to give Texas Tech a 35-34 come from behind win in front of 55,664 fans at Jones AT&T Stadium in the non-conference finale before Big 12 play commences.

Seth Doege threw for 222 yards and rushed for 83 as Tech came back from 14 down to win.

The Wolf Pack amassed 566 yards of total offense (316 on the ground an 250 through the air) while the Red Raiders had 442 yards of offense.

It was a scoreless first quarter as Tech mustered 77 yards of offense and Seth Doege had more incompletions (5) than he did the entire New Mexico game (4).

Nevada went up 14-7 at the half with a run/pass attack in the pistol that pistol-whipped the Red Raider defense.

In the third, the Wolf Pack opened up a 14 point lead twice...only to see Tech respond and cut it to 7 and eventually 3 in the 4th before the late heroics.

Tech's main target, wide receiver Darrin Moore injured his ankle and didn't play in the 2nd half....but Eric Ward and Jacoby Franks had big games receiving. Eric Ward rushed for 134 yards to lead the red Raiders.

The 3-0 Red Raiders now open up Big 12 play visiting Kansas at 11am next Saturday.
