LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -
Two former administrators of Highland Hospital made an appearance Monday afternoon in Lubbock federal court to deny the charges against them.
Herschel Breig and James Cheek both pleaded not guilty to the 8 felony charges against them. They're accused of embezzling $1,856,529 of money that should have been set aside for payroll taxes.
Breig was the Vice President and Cheek was the CEO of Highland Hospital's parent company, Shiloh Health Services. Highland has since been sold to a new owner and changed names. Both men remain free until their trial date, which is tentatively set at November 9th.
