Police investigate gun violation outside elementary school

Denver City police are investigating allegations of a man having a gun outside the Denver City I.S.D. elementary school.  Police say they arrested Javier Clark Jr., 22, late Wednesday morning.  It was not clear Wednesday evening if Clark had been able to bond out of jail.

Police say an eyewitness saw a man placing a gun in the trunk of a vehicle, then driving to the elementary school to pick up a child.  The eyewitness called police who asked permission to search the vehicle.  Officers found the gun and charged Clark with Place Weapons Prohibited, a 3rd degree felony with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
