LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -
An Oklahoma woman admits she forged an estimated $300,000 of payroll checks at various banks including some in Lubbock. Tiffany Peteet, 23, of Warracres Oklahoma, pleaded guilty on Thursday to a federal conspiracy charge.
Peteet's co-defendant, Devery Mitchell of Levelland, was convicted on a state charge earlier this year. Court records in Peteet's case say that she and Mitchell would create bank accounts with the fake checks. They split the money 50/50.
Peteet will be sentenced at a later date to no more than five years in prison. As of Sunday she remained in custody at the Lubbock County Jail.
