Big Changes In Store For LISD

Big changes are in the future for Lubbock ISD, one of those changes was made official on Thursday morning. LISD board members voted to turn Ramirez Elementary into a charter school. The school is expected to draw a wide variety of students including home school and private school students. Curriculum will focus on international studies, community service and leadership. LISD and Texas Tech so that college students can get hands on training for educational careers.

LISD board members are also moving forward with discussion to change the grade configurations of the district, moving sixth grade into junior high and ninth grade into high school. While all board members voiced their approval for the plan, a vote was not taken.
