A third-generation West Texan, Abby Reed grew up dreaming of being a journalist and saying "Karin and Abner, back to you!" She is honored to be a member of the KCBD NewsChannel 11 team as a reporter and weekend anchor.
Abby grew up just down the road in Amherst, where her Granddad was a cotton farmer and raised cattle. Her parents, grandparents, and several aunts and uncles still live there.
Abby studied Broadcast Journalism and Criminal Justice at Eastern New Mexico University. That is where she got her first reporting job at the age of 18 - when she began free-lancing news reports for the ABC station in Albuquerque. Since then, she has worked as a reporter, anchor and producer for stations in Amarillo, Sherman, and Corpus Christi.
As an on-air reporter, Abby has had stories featured on MSNBC, CNN Headline News, and ABC's 20/20. Most recently, she was the morning news anchor for the NBC station in Midland/Odessa. In 2010, she was awarded three Texas Associated Press Broadcasters awards.
Married to her college sweetheart since 2006, Abby and her husband, Tyler, welcomed their first child, a daughter named Harper, in May 2012.
