This morning family, friends and colleagues paid their final respects to Lubbock County Court at Law Judge Rusty Ladd.
Judge Ladd was killed in a traffic accident last Friday when his motorcycle was struck by an SUV.
Hundreds came out to Broadway Church of Christ Wednesday to remember the judge.
District attorney Matt Powell gave an emotional opening prayer and Ladd's three sons told funny stories about growing up with their father.
Praising his integrity, Ladd's colleagues said the world would be a better place if there were more judges like him.
"Judge Ladd was a great man, a great human being who was compassionate with people. The way he lived his life and ran his courtroom were very much the same," Lubbock Chief of Police Roger Ellis said.
The family recommends donations to the following charities:
Carpenter's Church 1924 Broadway Lubbock, Texas 79401
The Children's Home of Lubbock 4404 Idalou Rd. Lubbock, Texas 79403
