It's finally October, where the conference games and rivalries take center stage...except when conference realignment comes calling.
The Red Raiders face Texas A&M, headed to the Southeastern Conference next year, Saturday, but they're not the only ones looking outside the Big 12 for a new conference home. Missouri is reportedly exploring options with the SEC or Big 10 conferences, however Texas Tech Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt hopes they stay put.
"Missouri and Kansas have one of the oldest rivalries in all of college sports, and I think they would want to be careful and preserve that and stay within our conference instead of looking elsewhere," Hocutt told Red Raider faithful Wednesday in Sherman, Tx. "I guess at the end of the day, they have to do what they believe what's in their best interest, but I hope they make the decision to stay within the Big 12 conference."
Missouri's Board of Curators voted to consider other league affiliations Tuesday night.
