The Muleshoe Police Department had two nearby counties assist them with calls Wednesday after their command tower fell over on top of their new building.
The tower fell about 5:40 p.m.
Police are not sure how the tower fell onto their nearly 18-month old police department. Tower companies and insurance adjusters are trying to determine the cause.
Muleshoe Police Chief Brian Frieda was in the building at the time. He said it sounded like a bomb went off. Frieda confirms that 911 calls were not interrupted by the incident.
Plainview used their mobile command truck to take calls Wednesday and Lubbock County helped out Thursday by lending the department a temporary 75-foot tower.
Frieda says the structure of the building is fine and that there was only minor damage to the roof and exterior walls.
There were no injuries.
