On Blackout Day at Jones AT&T Stadium, #24 Texas A&M beat Texas Tech 45-40 in front of 58,416 fans.
The Aggies scored on their first possession with the game less than 2 minutes old. The Red Raiders responded as Seth Doege found Adam James for a 2 yard TD.
The Aggies used a balanced run/pass attack, 411 total yards (189 pass, 222 run) to open up an 11 point lead. The Red Raiders cut the lead to 5 on a Doege to Alex Torres 20 yard TD catch with 31 seconds left. The Aggies recovered the onside kick and ran the clock out.
The Aggies were 6 for 6 in the Red Zone while 5 times, the Red Raiders high-tech offense had to settle for trying field goals.
The biggest swing came late in third, Tech was down 31-23 and Donnie Carona was trying a field goal to cut the Aggies lead to 5. However, it was blocked by Dustin Harris and the ball was scooped up by Terrance Frederick and returned 65 yards for a touchdown to balloon A&M's lead to 15. A 10 point swing.
Seth Doege was 44 of 66 for 389 yards.
The Red Raiders had 523 yards of total offense.
