The effort to re-develop North and East Lubbock is now headed by a new leader.
Thursday, Mayor Marc McDougal introduced John Hall as the new Executive Director of the re-development project. Leading similar projects in New York and Dallas, Hall has experience in re-building distressed neighborhoods.
"I hope to stabilize the community by doing more quality affordable housing in the area. I think that has been something that has come out of task force recommendations." said Hall.
Hall warns that community development is a slow process, but expects to show signs of progress within two to four years.
