Just days after Lubbock's Interim City Manger resigned, Lubbock's Mayor Pro Tem has relinquished his title.
According to Mayor Marc McDougal, City Council Member and Mayor Pro Tem Victor Hernandez has stepped down as Mayor Pro Tem. The mayor received a recorded message on his cell phone from Hernandez around 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
In the message, Hernandez told the Mayor that he is resigning from the two year elected position as Mayor Pro Tem. Hernandez will remain on the City Council.
NewsChannel 11 spoke with Hernandez, and he said he feels the council is losing focus and he could better severe the community if he could be more outspoken.
